Agreeing & Acting in accordance with…

God's will, imperative, prerogative, and purpose.

But aren’t we talking about waiting?

Yes, indeed!

Then what’s with this talk of agreeing and acting?! Is this just turning into a checklist of legalistic dos and don’ts?

Not at all!

Let’s begin with agreeing. In the Scriptures, we see that belief (the action of faith) leads to confession – agreement with God that we are sinners in need of a savior (Romans 3:23) and that Jesus is our resurrected savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-10). But that is just the beginning - for our continuing agreement is demonstrated in our ongoing action – for faith without works is dead (James 2:17, 26). And in order that we don’t lose sight of motive, let us not forget that action must have one motive alone – love (John 14:15, 21).

Since God is Love (1 John 4:8, 16), our motivation will translate into seeking and desiring His will, surrendering to His imperative, discerning His prerogative, and embodying His purpose.
